The Sri Lanka Medical Association of North America will be holding our Biennial Fundraising Ball on Saturday, November 8th, 2025. This special day is being organized in support of a vital cause.
The morning will feature a Scientific Session, bringing together professionals for knowledge sharing and collaboration. This will be followed in the evening by the Fundraising Ball and Dance, a celebration in support of mental health initiatives in Sri Lanka.
This year’s fundraising will benefit mental health programs, including the development of TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) services at the National Hospital.
We hope you will join us for an unforgettable day and evening, and lend your support to this important effort. Your presence and generosity would mean a great deal to us and to those we aim to serve.
Warm regards,
Tarique Perera, MD
President, SLMANA
Dharshyni Peries – Seneviratne and Ylone Shamistra Nadarajah
Co Chairs, Dance Committee
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a safe, non-invasive treatment that uses gentle magnetic pulses to stimulate specific areas of the brain involved in mood regulation.
FDA-approved for depression in adults and teens, and for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) in adults, TMS is like “physical therapy” for your brain, helping reset and strengthen natural brain activity patterns.
Unlike medication, which affects the entire body, TMS targets only the brain circuits that are out of balance, offering a breakthrough for those who haven’t found relief with medication alone. Treatment is conducted under the care of experienced medical professionals who customize it to each individual’s needs.
Sri Lanka is facing a mental health crisis. Many individuals with severe depression, anxiety, and other psychiatric conditions are left without effective treatment after exhausting traditional options.
To address this urgent need, the Sri Lanka Medical Association North America (SLMANA) is launching a groundbreaking initiative to bring Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy to Sri Lanka.
What Makes Our Team Uniquely Qualified
TMS is not just about technology, it requires exceptional expertise, precision, and understanding of brain stimulation protocols. That’s why this initiative is led by Dr. Tarique Perera, one of the world’s foremost authorities on TMS.
